POR COLOMBIA UNVEILS  NEW FIVE-YEAR STRATEGIC PLAN
NEW YORK, September 8, 2009.
PorColombia, a student-run organization known for its active role in educating and promoting Colombia’s positive face, announces its new five-year strategic plan.

The 2009-2010 National Executive Board led by President Marcela Sarmiento developed a roadmap focused on networking activities with substantial involvement on academic, social, cultural, and philanthropic activities. These four action fields will be defined as follows:

Academic: Involves organizing educational events that will enrich our members and provide them with important networking connections to businesses, institutions, political leaders, and activists. These events include, but are not limited to, panel discussions, debates, and educational movie screenings.

Cultural: Promotes multiple aspects of Colombia’s culture and can be any expression of it. These activities include, but are not limited to, music showcases, art exhibits, and food presentations.

Social: The Colombian spirit is always festive and it is in this vein that we will promote events to forge closer and stronger ties that will bring our members together. Our events will include dinners, galas, and movie nights. We will also ensure that all PorColombia chapters maintain an active social agenda.

Philanthropic: The PorColombia National Executive Board chooses a philanthropic cause to support every year. This concept seeks to enrich our community with humanitarian values and influence the public opinion in the United States, Colombia, and elsewhere.

This year, PorColombia will focus its philanthropic resources to help end the massive exodus of millions of Colombians from their homes, tearing many families apart, and forcing them to become internal displaced persons.
